Inspiration Takes Flight

Carole Amber, turns one of the darkest moments in her life, into inspiration and healing for generations to come with the release of her book The Gift of the Ladybug.

Carole and Jen Gift of the LadybugAfter losing her young son, TJ, at 14 months due to complications from Leigh Syndrome, Carole turned her pain into purpose and her visions into reality.  The Gift of the Ladybug is a magical story of love, joy and acceptance through the eyes of two horses that learn their son is actually a handsome little ladybug.  “The Gift of the Ladybug mirrors the way TJ made us feel” says Amber.  “His eyes and demeanor would say, “Mom and Dad, I’m okay. It must be this way. And if TJ could face his fate with joy, laughter, love and peace, we could find a way to do the same.  Our wise little ladybug gave us a glimpse of what it is like to fly.”

Working in connection with the Bobby’s Books Program, Amber wanted to find a way to give the books to serious or terminally ill children in Central Ohio.  January 28th was TJ’s birthday and a perfect launch day for the book.  On that special day, approximately 1,300 books were sold, it became an Amazon.com Best Seller and earned the following Amazon rankings at the height of the day: #1 Amazon Movers and Shakers; #2 Amazon Hottest New Children’s Books, #8 Amazon Children’s Book Sales and #17 Amazon Overall Book Sales.  Of the 1,300 books sold that day, 258 copies were donated to the Bobby’s Books Program.  “The boxes just kept coming in,” Jennifer Taylor, Bobby’s Books Project Manager states.  “The thought of how many children will benefit from this book, you can’t help but smile. This book exemplifies the true motto of the Bobby’s Books Program of Making a Difference in the World. Who knew so much LOVE would come on the tiny wings of a ladybug.”

A Kid Again Gift of the LadybugAmber and Taylor work together to distribute the donated books. Amber was able to give some of the donated books out to families at the recent A Kid Again program at the Westerville Recreation Center. “The kids seemed to really love the books and I got the sweetest email from a mom. She said her daughter loved it so much that she slept with it :). I totally cried when I read her email.” Amber said.  Additional books will be donated to Nationwide Children’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit and Family Resource Center and local hospice programs.
