Bobby's Books Listed in National Outreach Efforts to Support Military Families with Young Children

(Columbus, Ohio)- Bobby’s Books, a local program that teaches adults about children’s grief, loss and change issues, has been listed as a National resource for military families as part of the “Families Near And Far” Campaign started through the Sesame Street Workshop Foundation.

The Sesame Street Workshop Foundation launched a new interactive website, This site was designed specifically to support military families but is free for all to use.  In addition to new tools to help preschool and school aged children create, communicate, and stay connected, the site boasts an extensive resource section, which includes information and resources on grief.  Bobby’s Books is listed as a National distribution Partner for Grief Resources as part of this strategic initiative.

“We are extremely honored to be part of this initiative,” stated Bobby’s Books Program Director, Jennifer Taylor.  “Military families experience grief and loss at a level that we civilians could never fathom.  Allowing the military parents to have a way to communicate with their children about their duty, about their deployment, about their love is a gift we too often take for granted.  Our next generation of caregivers needs to have a voice and this new resource is a step in the right direction toward healing and understanding.”

Bobby’s Books is a program operated under the direction of the Midwest Center for Home, Hospice & Palliative Care Education in Columbus, OH. Bobby's Books seeks to improve the situations of children coping with loss by expanding the knowledge, skills and tools of those adults working with them.  By using books as conversation starters, you will be able to give children the chance to express their feelings and tell their own stories.  To learn more about resources available and how to become a Bobby’s Books Instructor, please visit www.bobbysbooks.org
