COURSE DESCRIPTION: Sometimes, sadness, fear, illness and loss enter a child’s life. Using children’s literature as a springboard for conversations will give kids the chance to express their feelings, tell their own stories, and deal with difficult issues. Bobby’s Books, a program affiliated with Midwest Care Alliance, offers educational seminars, bibliographies, hands-on activities, lesson plans and other resources to educate adults and enhance a child’s coping abilities. This session will prepare participants to present this entire model program including “Don’t Flush the Goldfish,” in their own communities and organizations. It is Midwest Care Alliance’s intention to invite trainers to consider being “ambassadors” for this project in their regions as requests for Bobby’s Books education arise. Participants will receive all the resources they will need to ensure success in promoting and implementing this program.
